"Wildlife is not just my business—it is my lifelong home and heritage."
Born and raised on the doorsteps of Minneriya and Habarana, Danushka Maduranga spent his youth learning the secret jungle tracks, waterholes, and seasonal elephant migratory patterns across the dry-zone ecosystem.
Unlike mass commercial tour operators, Danushka personally oversees every safari. He drives customized, open-top 4WD jeeps configured specifically for nature enthusiasts and photographers, ensuring high elevated seats, smooth off-road maneuverability, and strict adherence to ethical wildlife viewing principles.
Whether you want to witness 200+ wild elephants feeding at the ancient lake basin, photograph rare raptors, or explore remote forest corridors, Danushka is your trusted local guide.

Everything you need to know before booking your Minneriya elephant safari.
The peak Gathering season at Minneriya occurs during the dry season from July through October, when up to 200–300 elephants assemble daily around the receding Minneriya tank. From November to April, herds often move between Minneriya, Kaudulla, and Hurulu Eco Park. Because Danushka checks park activity daily, we always guide you to the park with the highest elephant count on the day of your safari!
For seeing the huge elephant gathering, the Afternoon Safari (2:30 PM – 6:30 PM) is the absolute best because elephants emerge from the forest canopy to drink, bathe, and graze during the cooler evening hours. For birdwatchers, cooler weather, and peaceful crowd-free tracks, the Morning Safari (6:00 AM – 9:30 AM) is magical.
Our custom Toyota / Mitsubishi safari jeeps comfortably accommodate up to 6 adult passengers with plenty of legroom, personal bag storage, and tiered seats so everyone enjoys unobstructed 360-degree views and photography angles.
Yes! We offer complimentary pick-up and drop-off from any hotel, resort, or homestay in the Minneriya and Habarana areas. We can also arrange pick-up from Sigiriya, Dambulla, or Polonnaruwa for a small nominal transfer fee.

Because wild Asian elephant herds migrate freely between Minneriya, Kaudulla, and Hurulu Eco Park following water and grasslands, the best park shifts throughout the year. Typically, Minneriya is legendary from July to October for "The Elephant Gathering" around the ancient reservoir. Kaudulla peaks from September to December, and Hurulu Eco Park provides guaranteed sightings from January through June. With Sri Lanka Safari Jeep, Danushka monitors daily herd locations every morning and guides you to whichever park has the highest concentration of elephants on your tour date!
Minneriya National Park is directly adjacent to Habarana (approx. 10–15 minutes), 25–30 minutes from Sigiriya Rock Fortress, and 35–45 minutes from Dambulla. We provide comfortable door-to-door hotel pickup and drop-off in our custom 4x4 safari jeeps across Habarana, Sigiriya, and Dambulla.
Conveniently located along the main Habarana – Minneriya highway, minutes away from the park entrance.
